This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Modern Piping »

Instructions

This project was very time-consuming and detailed but completely worth it! The bride and her guests were very happy with it.

Difficulty:

Category: Cake Decorating

Type of item: Food

For: Women

Style: Traditional, Romantic

Materials

Dark chocolate mud cake, white chocolate mud cake, dark fruit cake, polystyrene dummy layer, fondant, royal icing, metallic painting, silicone molds.

What was your inspiration?

The bride sent a photo of the cake she would like for her wedding. It was amazingly detailed and slightly overwhelming so I simplified the piping but kept the main structure and theme.

What are you most proud of?

I'm most proud of the way it all came together exactly as the bride wanted it and added another amazing element to her special day.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Make the flowers well in advance, plan your time and be prepared to make a few changes on the run! The Modern Piping class was invaluable for tips and hints relating to stencil transfer, piping, metallic painting and adding embellishments.
