Marian Snowflake in tatting

Make It

This project was made from an independent Craftsy designer's pattern:
Tatted Snowflake "Marian" »

Instructions

It's a tatted snowflake.

Difficulty:

Category: Other

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Home

Style: Classic, Traditional, Holiday

Materials

Size 20 Lizbeth thread, plus my own hand dyed thread.

What was your inspiration?

Snow, of course :-)

What are you most proud of?

There's enough white to look like a traditional snowflake, but the color makes it "pop".

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

If you'd like to learn to tat, there's a shuttle tatting course here on Craftsy.

I love tattng. My dear mother tatted a table cloth and a bedspread in her lifetime. She also loved to tat little 'butterflys', that she afixed to blank note cards with personal greetings If I find one I will post it to the site. They were so original and cute, and people so looked forward to receiving them. They were true 'keepsakes' from my mother. Your tatting is lovely and brings back fond memoies. Mother taught me to tat, but I had more patience for knitting, crocheting and sewing. I inherited all of her tatting thread and shuttles, some of them bone shuttles from the late 1800's. Keep up your continuation of this lovely and nearly forgotten needleart fom. Your work is just lovely.

Thank you so much for sharing the story of your mother's tatting. Yes, if you find some of her cards please do post them, I'm sure many would love to see them.
