I did 'cathedral windows' in the orange and blue squares (Double Irish Chain). I thought about using white thread in the white space, but then changed and used the navy blue thread and I'm glad I did. The "I" that are appliqued were appliqued on each block before quilting. I gave this large quilt to my boss who is an alumni of the University of Illinois. It has a navy blue border all around it and the quilting is hard to see but I did some scallops and then straight lines into the scallops.
