March BOM #2

Broken Spider Web

Broken Spider Web

Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Craftsy Block of the Month 2012 »

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Functional

For: Home

Style: Traditional, Classic

Materials

Cotton scraps and leftover fabric.

What was your inspiration?

The Craftsy BOM 2012 Course.

What are you most proud of?

Learning a second method of Foundation Piecing. I wasn't terribly keen on the rather blank star in the middle and, in any case, my join wasn't exactly perfect, so after I'd done the April blocks (English Paper Piecing) I made a little paper pieced flower and put it in the middle.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

This is just as easy as the other foundation piecing project for March, but doesn't result in as much bulk. Go for it!

Love your hexigon flower! That blank middle has always bothered me and I've put off doing this block. Thanks for the inspiration!

Thank you. I started out rather half-heartedly with the January blocks, intending to use up all kinds of scraps, but got really interested and the whole project took on momentum with my leftover purples.

Thank you! You may recognise the fabric from Jacqueline's Quillow. I actually bought the "Pure Velvet" fabric to make a quilt which is currently waiting for me (or possibly a long-arm quilter, if I'm feeling lazy) to put it together. Why on earth do I buy so much fabric? There's still going to be some left!
