What advice would you give someone starting this project?

For Block 5, I would start with a 7 inch square, not 6 1/2 inch square. After sewing the strips, I would then trim it to a 6 1/2 inch square. When I went to trim up my small squares, I could not get a 6 1/2 inch square since my original square "shrunk" when I sewed the strips on. This is why you see the white sashing between the blocks. I trimmed my oringal squares to 6 inches and add 1 1/2 inch wide sashing to them.

The solids are Kona Cotton; the print fabrics are all scraps.

I was really attracted to your addition of white strips to make a secondary geometric and decided to try it...and then I read above that it was a happy accident! Well, I like it better. You're right, starting with a 7" square really helped. Thanks for the tips and the creativity!
