What was your inspiration?

I wanted to start knitting hats and I wanted to learn the cable knit stitch. I bought a pattern book at Walmart called Slouchy Beanies. It's a cute book with great patterns. I couldn't pass it up. I saw this pattern and decided to give it a shot.

What are you most proud of?

I've never sewn buttons in my life. I'm most proud of finally figuring out the buttonhole and then sewing the button on.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Gauge. The hat is a little big on me. I used a heavier yarn weight than what the pattern asks because that's what I had. I didn't do a very good job with the gauge, but this is only my first hat.
