Instructions

This pattern from Banner Creek Designs is excellent! Clear instructions, cut out patterns for everything. This was my first effort at small, detailed paper piecing - will practice this.

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Women

Style: Classic

Materials

cotton batiks, warm white batting, Yli variegated thread, freezer paper for piecing

What was your inspiration?

The Craftsy newsletter highlighted this pattern, and I was looking for something to do for my aunt, for her small kitchen table. She is a hand quilter, making bed-size quilts, so my gift had to be something worthy of her. She loved this little table mat, and decided to make variations of this pattern for her soft cushions.

It is not so difficult - just takes a little patience to be precise. Do not look too closely at mine! :)

That's gorgeous! I love the variegated thread in the quilting which links in with the colours in the centrepiece. I also like the way the colours follow each other in threes, giving a sort of "curving" effect. The whole item looks very difficult. I've never tried paper piecing, and don't know anything about it ... yet ...! Oh - my husband just came and looked over my shoulder and was very complimentary about it too!

Do not worry ... you can do paper piecing. This is an excellent pattern. Take Peggy Martin's class, and you will be fine! And have fun to boot!

Thank you for your advice. If I take all the classes I mean to, I will have to live to be 100!
