Instructions

I was super inspired to make this project after watching the video. I had some pre-cut fabric squares I had gotten from a swap that were ten inches so changed the block measurements to fit the ten inch square. I decided to eliminate one row so I wouldn't have any strips narrower than 1.5" and used a few less fabrics. This meant I would also have 3 less blocks. I am debating whether to add sashing ...

What was your inspiration?

Elizabeth's original project. This is so clever and looked so fun on the video I just had to make one! Also, I have two sets of twins to make gifts for this winter and this was a great way to pick a solid color to highlight for each baby.

What are you most proud of?

Using what I had, meaning no trips to the fabric store to get more fabric, figuring out to make what I had work and taking a risk to work with colors in a way I had not done before.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

It was tempting to cut a bunch of layers at a time event though the instructions were to cut them individually. I made a silly 1/4" mistake on my second set of 3 stacked fabrics which was a big bummer because I was trying to only use fabrics that I had. Oops. After that I went back to cutting them one at a time.

I am still working on this quilt top so if I come across anything else to add to this section I will!

Thank you! It is really work the risk to work outside of your color comfort zone. I never would have picked these color if I hadn't been in a swap. So happy I did!
