Lopi scarf
Instructions
Pattern for Lopi scarf
100g unspun Lopi (Plötulopi) in plum heather (color #1428). For distributors see:http://www.istex.is/english/distributors/. Medium weight (worsted) yarn should also work, 5mm (US size 8) needles (I found it best to use 80cm circular needles)
The scarf is knitted in stockinette stitch except for the first and last 3 stitches which are always knitted.
Cast on 220 stitches.
1) Knit 10 rows stockinette stitch, except for first and last 3 stitches which are knitted on RS and WS.
2) Next row (decrease row): Knit 3 st, knit 2 together until 3 st remain, knit 3 st.
3) Knit 10 rows stockinette stitch, except for first and last 3 stitches which are knitted on RS and WS.
4) Next row (increase row): Knit 3 st, knit in front and back of each stitch until 3st remain, knit 3 st
5) Repeat 1-4 once
6) Knit 10 rows stockinette stitch, except for first and last 3 stitches which are knitted on RS and WS.
7) Cast off.
If you want more elaborate ruching, you can reduce the needle size during the decrease row, and switch back to larger needles during the increase row.
