Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Magical Jelly Roll Quilts »

Instructions

I wanted to try the techniques in the course and used fabrics that were in my stash with no purpose in mind.

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Home

Style: Classic, Traditional

Materials

Cotton fabric, 50wt thread for piecing. 40wt thread for quilting

What was your inspiration?

The Magical Jelly Roll Quilts course. Kimberly's guidance is great.

What are you most proud of?

I am left handed so everything I did was backwards or upsidedown. I wanted to try the techniques before breaking into a brand new jelly roll. I tried really hard to get the points to come together correctly. The quilting was all done on my sewing machine. I've never attempted this kind of quilting using decorative stitches before.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

It takes a lot of time and patience for this project. Watched the video over and over as I was working through.

SOOOO pretty! Don't you just LOVE the way the striped fabric looks at the tips? The center print fabric in the star adds a lot of interest and movement. Well done!!!!

Thank you. Yes, I did the machine quilting. I wanted to try Kimberly's freezer paper method and I used the serpentine stitch on my sewing machine as well as straight stitching.
