Vanilla bean cake with milk chocolate buttercream and vanilla buttercream and a hand drawn image on fondant/gumpaste mix.
What was your inspiration?
My client's son absolutely loves the Llama Llama children's book series and she wanted something for her son that included the character but was only having a smaller party and didn't need an enormous cake. This was my way of creating that for her.
What are you most proud of?
The Llama character was drawn completely freehand and colored with a huge palette of color gels all mixed and painted one by one. I wanted to create dimension on a 2d drawing with light and shadow
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Take your time. You can do it with any character out there if you're patient and draw confidently.
