Pattern Info

Pattern info for this project can be found here:
hoot owls published in 1994 quilt craft magazine

Instructions

This was fun, but took more time than I had anticipated, probably because I added all the additional quilting.

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Home

Style: Whimsical, Cute

Materials

cotton fabrics, batting, basic sewing supplies

What was your inspiration?

I saw this 10 plus year old magazine at a yard sale with the picture of this wall hanging on the front cover. Bought it because I thought it was cute with plans to make it someday. Now a couple of years later, I have.

What are you most proud of?

The quilt as shown on the magazine cover has only quilting in the ditch around the basic items. I added loopy free motion quilting to the background, zig-zag quilting to the owl bodies to give them feathers, bark to the tree trunks and leave design to the border.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

This is a pieced pattern using templates printed in the magazine Quilt Craft , October 1994.

This is so cute! I made an owl appliqued pillow for our granddaughter for Christmas and it was her favorite gift since she's into owls. This would look great on her freshly painted bedroom wall and would make the perfect Christmas gift this year. I'd like to get the pattern, Karen Louise!

I love this! Your color choices are lovely and the extra quilting adds beautiful detail. I'd like to make something similar for my friend who is decorating her nursery with owls. Congratulations on finding the pattern!
