What advice would you give someone starting this project? Go for it - use your creativity when picking the colours!

Thank you very much! I love them, too. (I didn't have any safety eyes around at that point, so I've decided to crochet them instead...It turned out just fine!) I say, "Go for it!" You can never have too many birdies lol
