Pattern info for this project can be found here:
dig, plant, mulch, weed, water....repeat

Difficulty:

Category: Home & Garden

Type of item: Plant or Flower

For: Garden

Style: Traditional

Materials

Shared plants from friends, sales, cast offs, 'relocated' from other areas. Pine bark mulch, and lots of time. But when gardening is your passion, and you love the feel of dirt between your fingers and the results of working alongside God to make it a beautiful world, it is all well worth it!

What was your inspiration?

My grandmother was a gardener and I have always loved flowers and anything that could be done outdoors. No better stress reliever than getting your hands in the dirt and watching the miracle of plants growing, blossoming, going to seed and knowing it will all happen again next year.

What are you most proud of?

The way everything seems to come together as long as you relax and give it a try. The best part is sharing with friends once you get your perennials started.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Garden to have fun, enjoy nature and glorify God's wonderful world. If it doesn't grow...replace it....if you didn't plant it pull it...if it doesn't rain, water it. Relax and enjoy as often as you can.

Right now I don't have garden space, not even for pots as I don't get much sun. I am enjoying all the other gardens and putting away thoughts and ideas for when I can use them.

I wish my grandma was alive to give me hints on my garden...I only have a tiny garden but is stuffed to the rafters with plants...we had very bad weather over the weekend and my poor lilies were demolished...hanging baskets holding on for dear life!!!I love my garden and also spend as much time as possible in my garden

Love your advice, it is exactly the reason I garden and love every minute I spend outside. It truly is the best form of relaxation and therapy that makes all the stress just disappear

I am so jealous of your clematis vine. Here in California, it is so hard to grow them because of the heat. I will try again when we get to Washington next year

How sad...here in England you plant a clematis and it grows like a weed...the plant itself lasts for years....

Funny, I have a brick patio also and used to have that exact chair covered in ivy with a potted pant in the hole where the seat used to be! the ivy finallly ate the chair and I had to literally pull it out of a jungle of vines . love all your pics : )
