Materials

Burnt out regular size lightbulb (they are free!), 8 inch doily (white or ecru), Flower picks, berry picks, ribbon, metallic string, hot glue, tape.

What was your inspiration?

Had a lot of holiday flower picks I purchased at Walmart last year for only .10 cents each!!! So I decided to use them somehow this year. I always like to keep burnt out lightbulbs for projects, and had a bunch of doilies I won on auction on Ebay months ago.... I put them together and voila'! These will be given as party favors at a ladies' luncheon in November....a bit early for Christmas but why not! They are perfect for the holidays!

What are you most proud of?

They turned out really cute and as a personal touch I added not just a plain ribbon which you can, but I had mine made to order with writing at the tail ends.. They were very inexpensive (only $14.00 for 100 count!. They are the only expense for this project since I am making about 70 to 80 of these.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Buy doilies with lots of "holes" to make it easy to thread the ribbon through it. Use a bit of hot glue to keep the metallic string in place at the neck of the lightbulb and top it with some tape too! This will make it sturdy and will not fall apart when hanging the ornament. Use holiday flower picks or WHATEVER you like. Any ribbon color you want. The lightbulbs coud be painted as well... I left mine plain and they look great too! Just have fun!!
