I think it is great you are playing with light in these photos. That is such a great way of learning to see the light. The red flower shot has some great color and a nice emphasis from shallow depth of field, but watch out for random bright areas like that out of focus leaf upper right. The vertical image has some interesting light going on, but with this dramatic light, the viewer will expect the image to be sharp. It looks like the camera has focused on the wrong part of the scene and there is some camera movement during exposure that is softening the image. Shooting at f/16 does not help you if your shutter speed becomes too slow and you lose sharpness. The water shot has great light in the water -- why not emphasize it? You don't need that out of focus branch and leaves.
