What was your inspiration?
My God daughter Lexy is an amazing gymnast and has a dream.
What are you most proud of?
This project was fun! It is a combination of fusible applique, thread painting, colored pencils, and fabric paint. I love the symbolism included: red, white and blue, as Lexy strives to represent the United States; the highlight images of the routines she competes in; the ribbon framing the design with gold, silver and bronze; the gold olive leaves surrounding her, and subtly quilted into the background is the Olympic torch in metallic thread. I believe in her dream!
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Don't be afraid to try something new. It doesn't have t be perfect, just fun! I now love the idea of adding paint and pencils to a quilting project to add the special touch for which I am looking.
