Share a little about the materials, processes and techniques used to create this piece. This is a drawing of our fireplace mantel, drawn from a sitting position, sitting at an angle to the fireplace. It's just the very top part of the fireplace. I used an HB graphite pencil. I haven't drawn since 1997!

This is very rough, drawn while sitting down and sketching. I used an HB graphite pencil.

Hello Ellie'sgirl, Welcome to Perspective in Landscape Drawing. Congratulations on posting your first drawing for the course. Sketching ordinary things in one's life is a good way to "warm-up" for this course. The profile of the molding looks good and you modelled it in a manner consisent with the forms. If you need to, keep drawing things that interest you until you are ready to start working plein air. I look forward to seeing the posting of your first landscape drawing.
