What was your inspiration?

This is for my friend Lesley. We have known each other since we were freshmen in college - a long, long time ago! She makes T-shirt quilts but no one has made her a quilt - it's time!

What are you most proud of?

It has a warm comfy look. I had enough of my inspiration fabric for the sashing & border. And I had enough of one of the brown fabrics to do a narrow border. Whew!!

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

The sashing is 1 1/2" finished. Narrow brown border is 1 " finished. Outer border is 3". The final size of the quilt will be roughly 64" by 78". I'm doing a pieced back for this trying to use up as much of my leftovers as possible (I don't need more scraps hanging around!).

Sure do like the way your BOM has come together and turned into such a great quilt. the quilting you are doing on each block is just amazing and really adds to the quilt. Guess I need to get back to mine-I think I am several months behind! sigh...

Thanks so much! I just looked at your browns & blues! Love the touch of rust in the brown one & figured out that you were the one who did such a great job with the blue double star block - looks like the fabrics blended together for the inner star.

Thanks, Tanya! I'm glad I finally found a project for these fabrics that I have had for years. I had something else entirely different in mind when I first started collecting the fabrics but somehow just couldn't get it started - waiting for a better idea I guess.

Darns, you are an inspiration. The warmth of the colors will surely please someone snuggled under this. I noticed a bit of green in there, my favorite color. (So something still lives in the autumn browns.) I hope you feel proud.

Really stunning Darns, I am sure Lesley will love it and all the work you have put into it - it is nice to do something our true friends isn't it. All the colours work so well together and the narrow brown border works so well. I too just love the dragonfly - a lovely touch.

Darns - I am speechless. I expected a gorgeous quilt but I had no idea how breathtakingly beautiful this would be! Your inspiration fabric is worth its weight in gold. Thanks so much, Jean! I had been holding onto this fabric for years waiting for the right project. The funny thing is that now that I see the photo I probably would have rearranged a couple of the blocks. I think maybe people are correct in saying take a photo of your layout before sewing it together. I'd have gotten a better look at it if I had taken the photo. Definitely will do that with the green one - -
