This project was made as part of a Craftsy workshop:
Lemoyne Star Quilted Trivet »

Instructions

I'm so glad the photos were there and could be enlarged. The extra tips for the binding were the best! This was my first quilting project, although I have pieced before. So now, one down & many more to come!

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Home

Style: Classic

Materials

Cotton fabric & batting, heat resistant batting in center

What was your inspiration?

Colors are for a son's home, where black and white are dominant. So glad I found graphic types of fabrics, they don't like flowery things!

What are you most proud of?

I thought this project was small enough to allow me to machine quilt for the first time... and it was! I've pieced several times before, but never quilted. Now, I'll make several more!

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Read through the materials and instructions first! If you can enlarge the photos as you go, please do .. it helped me, since I'm not a seasoned quilter at all. Your rotary cutter should be a larger one since cutting through all the battings at the end to square up the project is difficult if you have the 'regular' size. I had the smaller one and will definitely go buy a larger one!

Well done, beautiful quilting too! Your black and white fabrics are very striking, super combination. I think you can get more than 3 "sets" done in time for Christmas tho LOL! Can't wait to see to more!

Thanks. It took several years of piecing to get up the nerve to really 'quilt'. I just wrote down the dimensions for the 10" trivet...may try that one too! I want these for Christmas gifts so maybe I can get to 3 more 'sets' by then, while doing stuff for g'kids too!
