Love your Christmas colours! To avoid the puckers, stop a stitch or 2 short of the 1/4" from the corner when sewing the square on. When you come to 'Pin rectangles right sides together, folding Solid corner on diagonal. Draw a line from where seam ends to bottom left corner.' I press the fold and draw my stitching line in line with the fold from the background square fold line... rather than taking my cue from where my stitching ended, if that makes sense? But stitching in the ditch helps with the pucker too! Can't wait to see these finished!

Thanks Pam -- it makes sense. I had wound up cutting some of the stitches at the 1/4" mark out, which helped. It was also dawning on me that the other problem might be that last line -- thanks for the idea about following that fold line, which totally makes sense. Can't wait to try it out, will let you know. I am really glad to hear that stitching in the ditch will help hide the pucker! Will upload a picture when I finish. Thanks a million for your advice!
