Instructions
Half-Square triangle units of any size can be used. I plotted my layout in EQ7 but you can do this on graph paper too.The string border was made using lengths of large wax paper sheets and then sewn together into long strips after being squared to 6" wide. One long piece was made and sewn to a 2.5" inner border strip. I mitered the border on the quilt.

Materials
These are half-square triangle units leftover from a custom quilt that I made. I bordered it with a black inner border and a string border to really bring out the scrappy look.
What was your inspiration?
I hate to waste any pieces of fabric and loved the idea that a bonus quilt came out of snowball block trimmings.
What are you most proud of?
The border! It was hours and hours of work to piece and then I quilted each individual seam too. I love the color though.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Figure out the size you want, plot it on graph paper or EQ7 and then you'll know how many HST units you need to make.
