Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
The Art of Cloth Dyeing »

Instructions

Diluting the acrylic paint with water makes the fabric less stiff. Use fresh leaves as dried ones crumble.

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Other

Style: Casual

Materials

Kona PFD fabric sprayed with Procion MX dyes, and then Setacolor and other acrylic paints applied to leaves that were pressed onto fabric

What was your inspiration?

The leaves I was using.

What are you most proud of?

The layering of different techniques on the cloth.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

This is rather easy as long as you don't glob the paint on the leaves. Look for leaves with distinctive veining on their backs.
