What was your inspiration?
This was created for Linda Poole's travelling Fairey Tale Exhibit. Her copyrighted image of the fairey was used for the figure. As part of the exhibit, each quilt told a story. That story was posted to the side of the quilt when they were displayed. The quilt label is a pocket and the fairey tale I wrote is printed on fabric
and tucked inside. This quilt was part of the exhitib for a year or so. I submitted mine toward the end of
the travelling exhibit. This was finished in 2006. My grandaughter was my inspiration and the quilt will
be hers one day.
What are you most proud of?
I like the whole composition and enjoy looking at it. I had a challenge when making it.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Start with an idea for a story and proceed. Make sure not to use any copyrighted image without permission.
Make sure you are happy with the whole composition before quilting. I was almost through with the quilting when I decided I did not like the yellowcolor of the moon. I very carefully removed the quilting in that area, ripped out the stitching on the borders and around the moon and replaced it. I think it was well worth the effort.
