Laura Nelkin Skywalker: Beach Shawlette

Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Knit This: Mastering Lace Shawls »

Instructions

Do not let anyone interrupt you stitch counting. Go to your "Black Box" as Laura Nelkin would say.

Difficulty:

Category: Knitting

Type of item: Accessory

For: Women

Style: Classic

Materials

I used Classic Elite Silky Alpaca in lace weight on size 4 needke. The colorway is Beach Glass.

What was your inspiration?

I was shopping at Nine Rubies yarn shop in San Mateo California. They had the most beautifully fine lace displayed. I could not believe how beautiful it was. I wanted to learn how to do it. They set me up with some Jitterbug sock yarn with some size 6 lace needles, and told me to try making a scarf in the feather and fan stitch. That is still one of my favorite scarves.

What are you most proud of?

This was the first time I tried knitting with lace weight yarn. It took getting used to. But I love the alpaca silk combination.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Count outloud!!!
