What was your inspiration?
I don't make many traditional quilts anymore, but I have a friend who is seriously ill and I wanted to make a warm lap quilt for her, but one that would remind her of spring and renewal. I love the frayed edge look of this pattern -- makes the quilt look very cosy.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
This is very easy. I didn't use batting, just two layers of flannel. I think you'd have to live in the Artic to need batting with the flannel. I recommend washing and drying it a couple of times at a commercial laundromat -- it really sheds during the fraying process.
