Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Quick-Strip Paper Piecing »

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Women

Style: Traditional, Casual

Materials

Different cotton fabrics - purples, blues and greens since these are my favorite colors

What was your inspiration?

I first did the baby quilt but 1) I don't have a baby 2) colors didn't fit for my room so decided to make a lap quilt. It's not quite finished...... but am posting two possible color patterns here and asking for input! Some people feel I should use the dark blue stripe for narrow inside border with lighter blue as wider inside border; others say I should do the same with the greens...... Any ideas?

What are you most proud of?

My mother now wants me to show my niece how to quilt.... It would be fun but who knows if it will work out. The fact that I was asked, granted by family, is what makes me proud.

My apologies to all, for some reason the message decided to repeat itself! Now to figure out what happened.

Believe it or not I've now stitched the 12 blocks together..... and added the narrow, blue stripe, inner border. Once the camera charges I will post new photos, promise. Once I finish this one, I want to try something smaller (ex. placemats) that I could do using one of our other lessons with a red-white-blue color choice (it will be 4th July in US or 14th July in France). Any idea from fellow students, mentor?

It is a small section to see, but the turqoise and white print looks just like one I just bought for a quilt.......just because. So pretty. I think your mix of colors is perfect.

I'm planning on using that print in a wall hanging (when I finish the quilt of course). Too many things! There is way too much to choose from.

I am now doing the wider border with that pattern, butterflies etc. Is that the one you got? Couldn't resist the pattern and plan to use it again in a wall hanging.....

The light green is my favorite. It's fun to see how different they can be, isn't it?

Ended up going with the light green although it was a tough choice! Now that the weather has cooled down a bit I can hopefully finish making the blocks.

Gorgeous fabrics!! I can't wait to see which one of the settings you choose when you sew the blocks together - it's going to be beautiful!

Striking colors! I say either combination will be just great. On first impression, my eye prefers the dark green center, but the light green is a "fresher" feel, more like spring. I would have a hard time deciding, too!

I've decided to go with the light green centers as the more dominant one with the blue stripe as narrow inner border and light blue butterflies for wider border. We'll see!
