What was your inspiration?

Easy, fast, and pretty cute. It's a small sleeve with a little lace pattern which you can slip over a clear glass ornament for a some holiday cheer. Even if you have never, ever knit any kind of lace before, this pattern could work for you. It is also a good starting-point for working in the round.

I just figured out the pattern IS underneath, just for the lace part which looks like a CANDYCANE! AH HA! they should have worded the pattern different you can't really see the candycane pattern unless you zoom the ball ALOT!

Oh duh! I saw "Candy Cane" and thought that it was literally for a candy cane, and not the ornament!

I love these!!! A friend of mine makes them and threads a gob of shiny beads on the yarn before starting to cast on. Then she 'knits' them into the design. They make the little 'sleeves' just sparkle when the tree lights are on. They are SOOO homespun looking, and are just adorable. Love the pattern you used!! So lacy and Victorian looking.
