What was your inspiration?
This project was inspired by a Debbie Brown Cake and was made for my DD Kat's bridal shower. I did my roses a bit different to what Debbie did. I also loved the idea of a carriage and made the one in the photo from RKT homemade of course ;) covered in modelling chocolate also homemade.
All of the flowers, balustrade and the tiny roses and vase were hand rolled gum paste and a long stem rose was made for the chocolate groom to hold. You can see by the pic of the US 5 cent coin how big (or small) they were...
What are you most proud of?
a lot of the techniques I used in this cake were first timers for me... there was also a lot of experimenting going on LOL... I am so pleased that they all worked! I had to do the balustrade a couple of times to get it just right but by allowing myself a few weeks prep I was able to nut out any problems well in advance and everything came together with very little trouble.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
this was so much fun to make ...dont be afraid to play and add your own twist. Make sure you allow yourself enough time to complete all the elements before you construct the cake.
