I'm new to quilting, so I learned a lot on this project :) I used a free cross stitch pattern and edited it some for this project. I look forward to using an original photo soon!

What was your inspiration?

I was so inspired by the instructor, Caro Sheridan! I wanted something very graphic and bold. I had been working on a painting with kois, so I found a free cross stitch pattern (awesome web site address below) and edited it some to add depth and dimension.

What are you most proud of?

I did it! I've finished the quilt top :) It's a lot bigger than what I was expecting so I'll have to give it to a friend to long arm. I'll post pics when it's complete,

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

I'd advise other beginner quilters to keep dimensions in mind. Caro Sheridan's example is 32 x 32 blocks... because of the shape I made mine 32 x 40 @ 2.5" finished squares. Had I paid more attention I would have known it was going to be extra long. Not really a problem, but a bit of a surprise. I love it :)
