yarn (wool/silk), glass beads, wood beads

What was your inspiration?

One of the necklaces Betsy showed in lesson 9 - I did not have the same barrel beads so I used oval wood beads instead.

What are you most proud of?

This is the first piece of jewelry I have ever made - before taking Betsy's class I've never knitted with beads and I wasn't even familiar with the basics of beading.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Be patient and enjoy the process - the outcome is quite rewarding.

Wow Manuela! If this is the first bead knitting you've ever done, I can only imagine what lies ahead for you. This is absolutely gorgeous. Having written that you used one of my pieces shown in the class as inspiration, you already know that this combination of colors is near and dear to me. But your exquisite technical work and the added details of the end cap-like silver spacers and the beaded cording makes this necklace all your own. Brava! Can you share for other students the technique you used for the spiral effect beaded cording? If I don't ask, I know someone else will. :-) Thanks so much for sharing.

I looks like I really need to learn how to reply to comments properly. I knitted the beads first and then it took me a while to figure out how to make them become a necklace. I found the solution after buying your book. The cording is actually a knitted tube with the purl side out. The beads are the same I used for the larger ones and I strung them in pattern (I did 6 times by the way until I got it right).

You're wonderful Manuela! Patterning that bead knitted tube is not easy and the fact that you kept at it until you figured it out is wonderful. So proud of you!
