What was your inspiration?

My Westie Puppy was inspired by my sisters dog, Duffy, a beautiful, playful Westie. Ive never seen a knit Westie puppy anywhere, so I thought Id take on the challenge of capturing Duffy in yarn. Long, white eyelash yarn (approx. 440 yds), combined with pink worsted weight yarn for his inner ears, gave me the material I needed to get the lovable, white furry look I was seeking to make him look lifelike. And since he looks so real, he needed a dog collar, too, made of worsted weight yarn with an added charm as a dog tag. Now hes ready to play! And you wont be able to resist giving him hugs and cuddles of love, too. He sits about 13 (not counting his ears) but gauge is not critical.

What are you most proud of?

My Westie Puppy looks like my sister's dog, Duffy! My goal was to make it look as real as possible, and I think I've accomplished that.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Working with eyelash yarn can be challenging. Take your time and enjoy the learning process. It takes time to create a work of art!
