Instructions

Depending on the yarn you use you may want to decrease the number of increase rows. I sometimes stop at 19 or 21 stitches. Just remember that you will have to adjust the length of your knitting even rows accordingly. And you should always keep an odd number of stitches in order to retain the rib pattern.

Difficulty:

Category: Knitting

Type of item: Costume

For: Women

Style: Outdoorsy, Classic, Traditional, Cute

Materials

100% Peruvian Wool and 4.5mm needles or Acrylic Worsted Weight yarn and 5mm needles.

What was your inspiration?

I found this pattern by TMatthews years ago and made one for myself. Soon all my daughters and their friends have asked for them. They make great gifts.

What are you most proud of?

Once you master the increase pattern they make up really quickly and look wonderful.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Try doing hidden increases (knit or purl into the side of the stitch below) because I think that looks best. And I think knitting or purling 3tog every 4th right side row is the nicest looking decrease. Have fun.
