Instructions

I hope to have the instructions for this project available on my Craftsy patern store by Fall 2012.

Difficulty:

Category: Knitting

Type of item: Accessory

For: Women

Style: Cute, Whimsical, Outdoorsy, Funky

Materials

Knitting needles, worsted weight wool yarn and roving, Czech glass beads, needle felting tools

What was your inspiration?

Peruvian hats are so much fun! So I decided to try coming up with a knitted and felted chullo with needle felted embellishment. I had yarn left over, so made the mittens too.

What are you most proud of?

I think the set came out very well and it will be entered in this summer's County Fair. We'll see what the judges think about it!

JULY 2012 UPDATE: THE JUDGES MADE ME PROUD BY AWARDING MY CHULLO AND MITTEN SET 1ST PLACE IN THE KNITTED HAT/HAT SET CATEGORY!

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

You don't have to come up with your own design. If you find a knitted and felted project that you like, I encourage you to experiment with needle felting to add a colorful embellishment to your project.

July 13, 2012, Opening Day of the County Fair: my project won 1st place in the knitted Hat/Hat Set Category. My other entry, the Barcelona Paseo Ensemble, won 1st place in the adult clothing category and was the Division Winner for the knitting division. It was an exciting day!
