Mid City Krewe

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Other

Style: Holiday, Whimsical, Traditional

Materials

Various shiny, gold printed cottons, taffetas, silks, and gold craft fabrics. The back is cotton duck.

What was your inspiration?

This is a Mardi Gras wall hanging made for the 2013 King of the Mid City Krewe. The center is the logo for the Mid City Krewe. The crazy quilt style surround is meant to symbolize the craziness of Mardi Gras. The color scheme is largely purple, green and gold which are the traditional colors of Mardi Gras.

I worked with a partner, peggy.

What are you most proud of?

The quilt is all pieced. The logo was difficult, especially using the gold fabric. The crazy quilt blocks are integrated.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Work with a partner.

I lived on Maurepas for years. I made a Mardi Gras table runner last week. Happy Mardi Gras!
