Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Quilting Quickly II: Patterns, Techniques & Tips »

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Home

Style: Traditional, Classic

Materials

Kaffe Fassett and other quilting prints, batik fabric, cotton batting, variegated thread

What was your inspiration?

The strip piecing technique for this was irresistible and I just had to try it.

What are you most proud of?

For me, the best part of the quilt is color and texture. I love that this quilt has a lot of white as well as some great colors.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Since the edges of each block end up on the bias grain, this could end up getting out of control by the time you piece the whole quilt. I made a mistake in not checking for symmetry before I put the borders on, and so I had to do some fudging during quilting time.

Truly stunning! I'm very inspired - I have some very dear friends who are getting married after having been together for a long time and I want to make a quilt for them as a wedding present. This definitely qualifies!

This is just gorgeous!! I want one now! :) How many big/full blocks across and down did you use to get the King size quilt? I'm also in the Quilting Quickly II class so I've made a smaller quilt and table runner with just 2 blocks using this technique. I just love how it turns out!

Hi! I used 12 diagonal blocks across the width and 10 down the length. Then there were two borders because I felt this quilt design really needs to be framed out. But you should measure your bed because I think King beds can really vary.
