What advice would you give someone starting this project? Work carefully ~ it is so much fun when all the seams match up!

Like the contrast and bold colors of your lone star. I look forward to seeing your completed project!!!

Thank you so much. I am working on a much bigger lone star for the back. This quilt, finished, is a gift for my grandson's other grandmother, whose son was killed in Iraq. The two white stars represent her daughters, the six blue stars you see represent her six sons, one of whom was killed in 2007. The large lonestar on the back will represent her son, surrounded by many smaller stars.

What a beautiful quilt. The colors really pop. I am sure the recipient will love the work and artistry you have put into this quilt, and I hope it brings her muchcomfort.

Thank you. I will be adding to this design before quilting it all together, then will repost it. I hope to have our mutual grandson give it to his other grandmother, who is also the mother of the fallen soldier, on the 7th anniversary of his death in June. The family holds an annual charitable fundraiser, the proceeds given to the Wounded Warriors program.

This quilt is finally finished! It is a gift to my grandson's other grandmother, whose son was killed in Baghdad, Iraq on June 6, 2007. This weekend it is hanging in a booth for The Sewing Machine and Vacuum Outlet at the Hilton Head Island, SC, Quilt Festival, to show their clients what can be done on my Brother embroidery and quilting machine. A wonderful shop owned by a lovely couple in Ridgeland, SC.

This is a two-sided quilt. The first photos show Kimberly Einmo's approach to a Lone Star in her Magical Jellyroll Strips class. The second side shows a large Lone Star, using the Courtney Hughes Luminous Lone Star approach in her Luminous Lone Star class.

What an absolute labor of love. Being a military mom myself, it really touched my heart. Excellent work.
