What is exciting or interesting to you about your photo(s)? This is a Killdeer (Charadrius vociferus) flapping its wings after bathing in a small pond in north-central Montana. I captured this photo last week on a film shoot for the World Wildlife Fund. The primary purpose of the trip was not photography, but I managed to get a few photos I liked along the way. The key for this photo was understanding shorebird behavior. I approached this Killdeer while it was bathing, and I knew from experience that most shorebirds shake the water off of their wings after they bathe, providing great opportunities for take-off shots. Then it was just a matter of waiting for the action!
