What materials did you use? Some Knitpicks Bare peruvian wool roving which I dyed with Greener Shades Coral Reef Aqua. So pretty, but I didn't rinse so well so my fingers turn blue while I spin!

What advice would you give someone starting this project? I saw someone else's project on a kick spindle - which I had not even heard of- and got one right away. It's easy to use and I can spin longer before winding on. It's sort of the in between stage between spindles and spinning wheels. And I can spin standing up, which I find most comfortable

thanks!! I'm really having a blast!

Picture two is the 2 ply yarn I made from it, it fluffed so much after washing that I think it is closer to DK than fingering wt

Kick spindle? Never heard of them - I must check out some videos! Is it faster than a regular spindle? It looks nifty!

what is a kick spindle?

sorry it took so long to see this - if you look at the picture, there is a big wooden whorl on the spindle. You leave the spindle in the stand like that and use your foot to spin the whorl - you "kick" it. I love it, and used it so much I need to replace the bearing. I have since bought a double treadle wheel, but I found the kick spindle allowed a nice intermediary between drop and wheel - and not too costly either. you get a nice long spin and can draft longer before winding on - I could walk across the room drafting if I gave it a real good "kick".

cool! Was it expensive?
