Katies quilt

Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Craftsy Block of the Month 2012 »

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Girls

Style: Traditional

Materials

100% cotton fabrics and batting

What was your inspiration?

I did the course and my granddaughter needed a new quilt so I finished it and gave it to her for Christmas.

What are you most proud of?

Although all the blocks aren't perfect, I'm pretty happy with the finished article and I learnt to paper piece too.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Take your time and read the instructions properly each month.

Oh yes; a scalloped border looks great, and since I haven't done one either, it WOULD be a great thing to finish it with, since the whole quilt is a learning project.

I love your colors and the wide outer border. I have never tried scalloped borders. I may give it a try.

Give them a try, they are not difficult at all.

Thank you Jilly bean. I can never visualise a project. I pretty much just jump in and hope for the best , so when the blocks were done I went to the shop and asked for ideas. I was thinking a dark colour but they looked awful, then they suggested that green and it was just right. I've never done a scalloped edge before so thought it was the right quilt to try it on and it was very easy and I'm really happy with the whole project.

Very nice! The pink and green combo is soft yet stunning. The red simply "pops"! Love the scalloped edge.

Thanks Carolyn. Yes I've looked at heaps of them and they all look so lovely. It's amazing how each different colour scheme changes them. I think everyone did a great job with them.

Isn't it amazing how we all used the same patterns, yet they are all so unique!! I love the way it came together--quite pretty!
