It's really cute, Sara! Which brand and model of machine do you have? Some brands have an accessory serger foot called a "piping" or "beading" foot, which can make it much easier to insert the zipper. Since the foot has a groove carved out of it for bulk to slide thru, the coils have a nice place to sit while you sew. This zipper looks great though!

I have a Janome MyLock. I bought it used to see if I wanted to enter the world of serging. I DO! I'll look for that foot online or through my dealer. Thanks.
