What was your inspiration?
This quilt was made for one of my best friends. She helped our family out in so many ways when my eldest daughter's kidney failed and I had to leave home for 7 months. As a thank you I made her this quilt. I hand stitched each of the blocks while I sat with my daughter at dialysis treatments and then hand appliqued little pieces that make the blocks look like puzzle pieces. My daughter drew the center piece. Garfield is Karen's favorite cartoon. I know this quilt will never repay her for what she did for our family but it should tell her how much I love her. My daughter is doing great after receiving a transplant from her twin sister.
What are you most proud of?
It is all by hand, Every stitch.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
If I ever make this quilt pattern again I will make the blocks bigger.
