What was your inspiration?
Kaps for Kendall was my original inspiration along with my renewed interest in Restylistas and Refashion Co-op (blogs dedicated to upcycling materials into new outfits).
What are you most proud of?
Being able to use old materials in a new project.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
The purple outer fabric was sewn into a tube. I layed it flat on the table, and using my fashion ruler, drew an arc from one corner to the other, creating very pointed "devil" horns. I sewed the arc and trimmed the excess. The pink lining was sewn into a tube. I then put the pink tube around the outside of the purple one (right sides together) and sewed them together at the rim of the hat. I pulled the pink lining down , then tucked it inside the purple hat. I felt inside where the seam should be for the pink lining and marked it with a safety pin. Using my fashion ruler again, I drew a gentle arc on the pink lining, and sewed it, with them seam showing on the lining's outside. I tucked it back into the hat where the seam ultimately won't show. I took each of the pointy horns and tied a single knot...working it to make them both look even.
