What materials did you use? This is leftover fabric from my 2009 Hoffman Challenge project, (purse, didn't win but it went on tour for a year with the Quilt Expo :>]) and recycled some chair covers I had made many years ago from a tablecloth;(did you know a long tablecloth can make six seat covers, you have to sew them but it works). I have recovered the chairs again.

This block looks really nice with these fabrics. The octagon shape is more subtle. It is there when you look for it but doesn't overpower the whole block.
