I still have these to do (still finishing up my hexagons !). But I was thinking of using stripes in my Octagon like you did. Seeing yours, I am definately doing so. It really shows the dimension and detail of the shape! Nice!

I was tossing up between stripes and zig zag, I felt this block needed fabric with a direction in it. I also cut the HST on the bias... very daring for me LOL! Can't wait to see what you do with yours now... no pressure... but waiting LOL.
