This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Craftsy Block of the Month 2012 »

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Home

Materials

Cotton fabric, mostly Kaffe Fassett prints. The background is a Kona solid in Ash.

What was your inspiration?

I'm into any project that uses stash right now. And this class is an awesome way to try out new skills as well as to revisit techniques I've tried before.

What are you most proud of?

That, for the most part, I'm keeping up with the class schedule!

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Always take it a step at a time. Never say never. Never say "I can't". It's all about patience and practice. I love taking classes and I love teaching classes for the value these lessons hold in quilting and in everyday life.

Thank you! That one is a Brandon Mably print and I have to confess that my husband is the one who chose it for that block. He's been fussing about not getting credit for it, so there. Credit given.

Beautiful blocks! Did you have to make the center circle bigger? I had to make mine 4 1/2 inches in order to cover the blades.

Yes, I did have to make the center circle bigger. Mine may be closer to five inches. I didn't measure it precisely on the redo....just went a consistent amount outside the template. I used the original circle on the Wagon Wheel block.

Are these cut on the cross or straight thread??

Celia, Because I was using scraps for most of this, I'm sure some are cut cross grain and some straight. If I were cutting from yardage, I would cut cross grain.

Yes, if you sign up for the block of the month class, the instructions include a template. There are also instructions for using a template ruler by Darlene Zimmerman called the Easy Dresden.

Love the fabrics! The wheel is great - can't go wrong with Kaffe Fassett
