What was your inspiration?
I wanted to make a runner as a gift using that gorgeous Easter egg fabric and settled on this simple design. Since the Easter egg fabric would make the item suitable for use a short period during the year, I wanted to put something on the back that could be used year around. I didn't want just a plain backing, though, so I put a border on the back, as well as the front.
What are you most proud of?
Getting the borders on front and on back exactly aligned so I could straight stitch on each side of the narrow hot pink border on the patchwork side and have the stitching look straight on the wider border on the fish side.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Accurate cutting and stitching was a must in getting the two sides aligned, and when trying to align the two sides it helped to poke pins straight through at the corners and along the sides of the narrow border and check the reverse to make sure the opposite side border fabric really was equidistance from the seam.
