Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
The (Not So) Itty-Bitty Giraffe »

Instructions

Because this is for an infant I worked the mane, tail and horn tufts in corchet chain loops instead of pom poms.

Difficulty:

Category: Knitting

Type of item: Toy

For: Infant/Baby

Style: Cute

Materials

patons jet yarn, 4mm dpns, hobbyfill stuffing

What was your inspiration?

I made this for my baby girl who is due in June.

What are you most proud of?

I am super pleased with how it turned out.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Go for it, this is a fun project and the lessons are very clear.

I LOVE how you did the crocheted chains for the poms! Very fun.

Josie thanks for you help, my mane didn't turn out like yours but it's not that bad either. I have published my project so you can look at it if you want. Thanks again for your help.

Hi again Nilza, there is a knitted stitch where you wrap a loop around your finger to make a fringe - I thought about using it but was too impatient to figure it out. I googled something like 'knitted loop stitch' and came up with some you tube videos that might help? I only didn't use the pom poms because the toy is for a newborn but I do love how they look!

Hi josie, that's a good idea too. I will check it out. The giraff is for my son's 5th birthday present so it's not that important weather I use the Pom pom's or not but Ioved the look of yours the best so that's why I wanted to do mine like yours. I've only got 1 week to his birthday so I better work quickly. Loll thanks for that idea too it's appreciated.

Thank you for the instructions but I'm hopeless at crochet so that won't be any good for me. I might try a knitted frill (just an idea) if that doesn't work then it will have to be the Pom Pom 's- which looks good too.
