What was your inspiration?

My quilting guild Uhuru had a challenge quilt for Black History Month this year, an African-American Woman who made a mark in history. I chose Josephine Baker because she knew who she was and would not allow the challenging issues of her time hold her back. She went to Paris to perfrom her art form and was a sensation!

What are you most proud of?

I never tried this technique before and was pleased with the results. I learned from a talented black woman, expressed my own talents as a black woman, about a black woman...totally loved the experience!

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Pick an image of someone you admire and go for it!
