What was your inspiration?
I was first inspired by taking the class. I have always been interested in learning to make handbags. Then when I found the sports jacket and shirt in a donation bag, I just had to use the beautiful fabrics for something. So as a Christmas gift for my nieces, I designed this bag and another one and made them out of their dad's old clothing.
What are you most proud of?
The hardware was a bit tricky. I also love the overall design and finished product.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Take your time, write down your steps as you do them. Make a muslin copy first and don't be afraid to rip out a seam if it doesn't look right. Also, measure, measure, measure. I got the whole bag together then realized I did not measure right for the snap. I had to take the bag apart, and make a new outside pocket... boy was that frustrating!
